Note down as many details as you can including the other party's insurance details and the names and addresses of any witnesses. If you have a camera then pictures of the position of the vehicles involved can be useful, as long as they are not causing an obstruction and you do not put yourself at risk.

It is important that you check your own insurance policy to see where you stand in the matter. Is it a third party or a comprehensive policy that also covers your own losses? You should also find out whether or not your policy covers the cost of legal representation. If it does, contact your solicitor and inform him or her that you have the cover. Whatever the cause it is never too early to contact your solicitor after any kind of accident.
